Elder Care in Andalusia, Alabama

Hello. My name is Virginia and I am looking for work in the extreme southeastern part of the state of Alabama near the Andalusia area. I am 57 years old and for the past 12 years I have been providing stay at home care for my husband who developed a rare form of degenerative muscle disease called polymyositis. He required extensive care including complete baths and much personal care that he could not provide for himself. Before caring for my husband I do have experience caring for clients in nursing home settings giving complete client care including feeding, baths, nail care, skin care, washing and fixing their hair and being sure they received proper care from other employees at the rehabilitation facility. I began working with the elderly at the age of 16. I sat with a neighbor that lived across the street from us when I was growing up. I did light household duties such as cooking and cleaning and assisted as needed. I did this for about a year and then worked as a nurses aid at the rehabilitation center in the town I grew up in. It was there that I learned things like proper range of motion exercises, skin care, oral hygiene techniques, proper lifting and transfer from bed to chair and etc. I truly enjoyed what I did and loved the people who depended on me. I am loyal, punctual, responsible and know CPR and the hymolic maneuver, and other forms of first aid and the proper techniques for changing dressings. I have experience with colostomies , trilogy machines, foley catheters, cough assist machines, and inhalation therapy. I can also give tube feedings. I am trustworthy and honest and friendly.
