Elder Care in Winnfield, Louisiana

I am retiring from a full-time freelance copy editor career of 10 years and having helped care for my mom most days the last year of her life I understand how difficult it is to find good people to care for a loved one plus caring for her I became immersed in the wide range of needs the elderly have and I believe in how much a dedicated helper can ease a family's concerns about their loved one who's in decline. (My mom had Lewy body dementia and assorted other issues that made her care very complicated.) Before I was a freelancer I worked as a university writer/editor three years and prior to that I worked in newspaper 14 years (I have a journalism degree). When I became a freelancer in 2006, it was partly to gain enough flexibility workwise to be able to help my mom and mother-in-law. As a volunteer, apart from tutoring and mentoring in underserved schools from time to time, I’ve been a court-appointed special advocate for children (through CASA), a high school journalism contest coordinator, and an ADA advocate for student workers. I've been married 35 years to a great guy who is retired Army, then retired from law enforcement and now unretired and back in law enforcement. Though I'm keeping two clients to do light, sporadic editing for (to keep my hand in), I just can't sit at a desk and computer all the time anymore. What I can do is anything someone needs, from bathing to cooking to housework to doctor visits to a bit of gardening or whatever makes them happy and cared for. I'm looking for maybe three weekdays, can do some weekend work, like maybe a half-day on Sunday.
