We are looking for caring individuals on an “as required call-out basis” to provide various in-home services including personal care; companionship/sitter, caregiver respite; friendly reassurance and home maintenance: light cleaning, laundry etc. Applicants must be people- oriented, have excellent interpersonal skills, be bondable, consent to undergoing a criminal background check, have a cell phone and be well groomed. All applicants for Personal Care positions must have First Aid Certification, CPR training & some form of PSW/Care Aide Certification. We offer flexible hours, competitive wages, training and ongoing support. RESPONSIBILITIES The Support Worker must maintain strict confidentiality in performing their duties: • provide non-medical Home Care Services to seniors, disabled individuals, and others in the community with identified needs • provide non-medical Home Care services including general housekeeping companionship personal care, chores and respite care • transport clients to appointments and activities • medication reminding • meal preparation • organize time and resources based on the individual needs of clients • manage any unanticipated events or unstable situations • perform other related duties as required • observe and report any change in client’s condition EDUCATION, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE • Support Worker (PSW) Certificate with a minimum of one (1) job experience • Physical ability to perform light cleaning and lifting (e.g. washing floors, dusting, laundry, and transferring clients) and knowledge of basic health and safety standards • Knowledge of routine precautions required for cleanliness and disinfecting and for the control of the spread of communicable diseases • Able to build relationships with clients with respect for different cultures. • Crisis intervention and problem solving skills are required to anticipate and deal with client issues • Strong time management, attention to detail skills and critical thinking skills are required. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential • Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision • Work effectively as a team member • Immunization for tuberculosis, chickenpox, mumps and hepatitis B is strongly urged • Valid First AID & CPR Certification is required • Fluency in a second language is an asset • Willing to undergo criminal background check*** • Familiarity in the use of Computers, E-mail and Internet Personal Attributes • The PSW must also demonstrate the following personal attributes: • have good work ethics • be consistent and fair • be compassionate and understanding • be flexible, adaptable and able to work in a variety of settings a valid driver’s license and access to reliable vehicle is an asset Notice to Candidates – you will be contacted if you are selected for an interview.
