Elder Care in New York, New York

I am a middle age former hospital nurse from Poland. During the past dozen years I have taken care of four elderly patients in New York City, each time for several years at a time, until their death. My most recent patient died in January 2016 at age 102. I was with that family for five years, first commuting and then, after the husband passed away, I moved in with the surviving wife who was physically and mentally disabled. Her daughter lives in Boston and she trusted me with everything. I have excellent references. I am dependable, hard-working, and honest. In my last job, in addition to carrying for the patient, I shopped, cooked, cleaned, did laundry, and dealt with handymen. I am physically strong and able to lift a disabled person. I get emotionally very attached to my patients and treat them like my own family members. My Philosophy of carrying for an elderly person is to talk to them a lot and to keep them engaged with the outside world. Most days my patients go outside to enjoy the outdoors. My English is moderately good. I do not drive.
