Elder Care Job in Renton, Washington

Seeking daytime care partner for 88-years old Vietnamese female with late middle stage dementia. Experienced caregiving professionals and students (for example, in nursing or geriatrics) are welcome to apply. Primary job duties include: helping client to stay on her daily routine; assisting with ADL's; providing companionship and facilitating activities; monitoring and tracking eating, toileting, napping and activities; and light housework as requested. Client is a gentle, kind, and easygoing person. Artistic all her life, she loves to sing and draw. Her challenges living with dementia include: needing assistance with ADL's; visual/spatial orientation; memory loss; and confusion and disorientation when tired, off routine, or triggered. At this stage, she has limited verbal communication and is easily confused, withdrawn, agitated, and delusional if a caregiver is unable to provide effective communication that meets her needs. Position offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth, especially in cultural-specific dementia care. Client's daughter will share effective methods she has developed for caring for the client. Previous caregivers have shared that they enhanced their professional skills during their tenure. Caregiver will be hired and supervised by client's daughter, who resides with client and is primary family care partner. Daughter may be in or out of the home during work hours.
