I am human service professional who has worked with a variety of age ranges for the past seven years. Currently, I am studying to become an Art Therapist and Early Childhood Educator. I was trained as a CNA in 2013, however I've allowed my licensing to expire. I completed the course at Washtenaw Community College and can provide documentation. In the past I worked as a caregiver in a memory support unit at an assisted living facility. I worked with a variety of stages of Alzheimer's Disease, dementia, and physically impaired patients. I took a holistic approach with care. I prepared meals, helped residents get dressed, and led stimulating activities. I took the opportunity to find beauty in a nursing-home setting by living in the moment and creating memories. My patients were familiar and comfortable with me, even through memory loss. My training in the Best Friends Approach helped me maintain senior rights. I empowered residents through helping them achieve their goals and maintain as much independence as possible. In addition to supporting patients, I helped families lose their parents twice. Once to the disease, and ultimately death. I learned that a cup of tea, singing, and looking at old photographs can help during the hardest of times. It is an honor to be a part of end of life care. .I enjoy gardening,board games, 40s-present pop culture, musicals & film, cooking, music, arts crafts, and going for walks with my dog.
