Elder Care Job in Ottawa, Ontario

We are looking for a live-in caregiver/housekeeper for our aging parents. This person would be responsible for taking care of our mother who has dementia and some mobility issues as well as preparing meals for both of our parents and doing housework. The caregiver's main role would be to assist our mother to get dressed in the mornings, take her medication (blister pack); eat meals; do her exercises; and to go to the bathroom during the day and at night. The caregiver would also need to provide her with appropriate stimulation and companionship. The caregiver would also shop for and prepare meals for our parents and themselves and do basic housecleaning. There may also be a need to help with appointments and run errands. To qualify you would need to be adaptable, compassionate, reliable, patient, hardworking and have a good sense of initiative and humour. Having experience with elder care and dementia is also an asset. Police check and references required. We need someone full-time five to seven days a week with time off during the day when a PSW visits the home. Salary negotiable and based on experience and number of days
