Elder Care in Ardmore, Tennessee

I'm an
Individual
I am Breanna Smith, 23 years old. I graduated from Lincoln County High School in 2012. I have a 17 month old boy & a 7 month old girl. It took my fiance and I four years to have 1, four weeks to have the second. I earned my CNA license through NHC in Pulaski in 2014 where I was working with Alzheimer/incontinent patients. I absolutely enjoy working with Dementia/Alzheimer patients. You have to remember with them.. that they are still in that body somewhere & I can help slow down the progression of the disease by working with them in their own home, where it's best. I started Calhoun Community College in 2012 after graduating, I have my basics completed. At first I thought I wanted to pursue nursing, so I started that.. I changed my mind soon after, to childhood development. I ended up changing my major several times even to an electrician tech, finally coming to a conclusion I'm still undetermined as to what I exactly want to major in. I now believe it's something in the field that includes dementia/Alzheimer's. I have worked with the public since I was 16 years old; Pizza Inn, Lowe's, Dollar General Market, Hardees, NHC, Lincoln Skill Care, & last but definitely my favorite, Home Healthcare. I honestly like working without a company and working directly with the family, most don't check in on their employees/families of patients like they should.. sometimes leaving the employees, patients, and/or families in predicaments that should never happen.. I like to get close and talk a lot with the family of my patient, & patient him/herself.. I like to give and take advice/tips on how to better their loved one(s).. I make sure my patient is well in comfort, health, cleanliness, independence, and home cooked meals. I work with my patient to be as independent as possible without tiring them to extremes. Normal everyday exercises as needed. Shower, dress, feed, care, and comfort. With women I like to sometime dress them up, do their hair, nails, and makeup; make them feel more beautiful. With men a good ole shaving & a cap/hat normally will get them in the right mood. With any patient, weather permitting, I like to get them outside and get fresh air/sunshine. I enjoy listening to their stories and what they have to say. I keep up with everything from clock in-clock out, such as times they eat, shower, sleep, etc. What they eat, drink, etc. & how much. I keep up with input and output. I check vitals. I do give meds if/when needed & chart it's time also. I also write down what may seem to be irrelevant to some, but when I wash/dry clothes, do dishes, start breakfast/lunch/dinner, or any other house chore. I also keep up with who came when to visit or called I push fluids more than most caretakers. *more the better the urine, less chance for UTI's. I keep the family updated as much as possible about their loved one. I'm preferably looking for 6am-6pm Friday - Sunday, but open to other offers. Thanks. Email: [email protected]
