Elder Care in El Paso, Texas

I'm an
Individual
My name is Ashley, I am Hispanic, I only speak English, and I am 23yrs. old. I have 2 cats and a dog, and my own car. I currently have my Associate of Arts degree and plan to continue going back to school in the fall. I grew up in a family of 6 children. I absolutely love reading and writing and I plan to become an English teacher someday. I love to travel and would like to go to Japan, Ireland, England, and Prince Edward Island in Canada someday. I am learning Japanese as well. I can type up to 70 words per minute and have knowledge of computer repair. I also love cooking and baking. For over 3yrs. I was great friends with a gentleman by the name of Jim McCoy aka the Shanty Irish. He passed away last year at the age of 90. I met him a reading and he just asked for someone to help him out and he'd pay and I thought it'd be a good experience and that's when our friendship started. It's been hard for me to want to get back into having 'good ol' friends' as he used to say. In the beginning, he paid me to do clerical work for him every week, such as typing out his emails and sorting out papers for him (his eyesight was failing him and he LOVED to write to everyone, from the president to Ophrah to friends in Australia!-He even wrote a few books!). I also did a few errands for him such as go grocery shopping or pick up his medicine or deliver things. I also took him to doctor appointments. He was such a joy in my life and I miss him terribly. He had so many great stories and history saved in his house. I remember coming across pictures his grandfather had done that were mounted on glass slides! And his father also helped build part of the railroad that when through Colorado. And I loved it when he read out loud from his books. He was a great speaker. Sometimes I would take him out to the public schools and colleges where he'd give talks about his time in WWII and about his love of writing and life to the students. Everyone loved him. He was a people person and he always encouraged me to do my best in life and always smile. He said my smile made him feel years younger, especially when he played golf. How he loved golf...anyways, that's my history with being a friend and helper to someone who was in turn a person who helped me become the person I am today. He helped me make friends with people I didn't think possible. His youngest grand daughter is one of my good friends now and she's also a joy to be with as we're both near the same age and like similar things. Occasionally her mother would give me a job and that helped me a lot. I helped out the whole family if they needed it and eventually I became good friends with them too. I don't currently have a job since I moved from Phoenix to El Paso where jobs are scarce and it's rather hard on me being so dependent on my father so I would like to help him out since he's done so much for me already. His family consider me family and every day tell me how much they love me and thank me for helping out their father and grandfather when they could not. By helping out Mr. McCoy, I not only gained a job, but a wonderful experience and family that I will always love and cherish for the rest of my life. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I appreciate it and I wish you happiness. -Ashley
