Elder Care Job in Ocean Park, Washington

I'm an
Mom turned a young 95 on July 1st!! She is extremely alert and cognitive. Her sense of humor is quite refreshing. She likes to watch the news, sporting events and Jeopardy. She is an avid reader and will read (a good book) in a day. She also likes to work crossword puzzles. She is quite fond her flowers as well. BELLA is her adored and much loved companion. Bella is an indoor ONLY Russian blue kitty that will do her very best to escape. Its next to impossible to catch her if she does manage to slide by. When Bella has escaped in the past it has been very distressing for Mom. Mom is very easy to care for, she is a pleasant and kind lady. She is ambulatory with her rollator, but unstable at times due to weakness and neuropathy. Vertigo is present frequently. Fluid has accumulated behind her right eardrum (again) and she needs another tube inserted. (August 4th appointment). The TV will be loud until the tube is placed. She has NO hearing in her LEFT ear. This hearing loss is NOT something a hearing aid can help. Mom doesn't require any toileting assistance at this time. She is quite independent, but has found she needs help with getting her days started and again with her evening meal, kitty's dinner and her pajamas brought to the couch. She generally will change into them by herself, but quite often it is at this time that her balance is challenging for her. A 'help' up and a 'follow' into the bathroom is needed. As she brushes her teeth, her walker/rollator needs to be turned around with brakes set. If she loses her balance, all she has to do is sit down. The PM shift is also to include closing the house down (garbage taken out) AM SHIFT **HOURS** 9am to 10am Monday - Sunday if you cannot fill 5 day shifts, or even less, please do contact! **DUTIES** Indoor cat fed, Mom will let you know Bella's portion and type of food. She has an automatic litter box that only needs the crystals changed (approximately) every 13 to 18 days. light housework, make bed, make & serve breakfast, clean up after meal, assist with dressing (if needed), Vacuum kitchen floor (when needed), clean master bathroom (toilet, sink/counter area) Mirror weekly. Pullups to garbage and replace bag. IF the commode was used overnight, empty, rinse, pine sol and replace bucket in chair. place one pull-up in brown bedside assist bar pocket cover and make sure TP is at the corner of night table. PM SHIFT ***HOURS*** 730pm to 830pm Monday - Sunday, if not able to provide 5 night shifts or even less. please do contact! **DUTIES** Pick up mail (usually comes around 530pm) in mailbox at the street. Check the wire basket hanging from the wreath on front door. Decide with Mom what she wants for dinner. My sister and I make a large quantity and variety of dinners for mom. They are in the freezer. Only need to thaw & heat most dinners, clean kitchen, wiping counters and take garbage out. Feed Bella. Finish laundry (fold and put away, if started earlier) The PM shift is also to include closing the house down. This entails securing windows and closing blinds. Making sure all doors (including garage) are locked for the night. After getting ready for bed, She may remain up and will take herself to bed as of now. The trash cans are located in the (1) guest bathroom, master bathroom (2) under righthand sink and (3) pull-ups in container by 1/2 wall and toilet, (4) in the livingroom by the coffee table, and (5) one under kitchen sink. Please empty at end of shift. They won't always be full. **The (3) pull up can should be done at least once a day and (5) kitchen sink can needs to go outside daily as well. Bella tends to open the door in the kitchen and helps herself to the garbage goodies (ick) PROVIDER HELP NOTES: 1. The paper (burnable) container is in the laundry room, behind the door. Burn when full, or when mom asks. 2. Casually ask if she remembered her meds. This serves as a reminder. The eye drops at night are for glaucoma. She does the drops herself.
