Elder Care Job in Lethbridge, Alberta

Hi. We are looking for a dedicated, accountable and responsible individual to help care for our mother. She is 93 with advancing dementia. She resides in our house and are looking for someone who can commit to a fixed monthly schedule and be willing to take on additional shifts if someone else is not available. we currently have two part time care givers and are looking for a third to work most of the shifts for the summer and into the fall/winter. Before we go further into details: THIS JOB IS LOCATED IN LETHBRIDGE ALBERTA, Canada. :) The environment is very casual, relaxed and pleasant. The care plan is simple but it requires that the care giver to be able to follow directions and be social (interacting at times) with our mother. For the most part, the role is relaxed and the requirements are more focused on having someone "around" so she feels secure and not alone. The role's activities include: - meal prep (dinners from meal kits, simple breakfasts, lunches) - assisting with personal care, showers - cue for medication - home organization/tidy, laundry - managing food and supplies and personal items, - companionship during meal times and short, simple activities before/after meals. (conversation photo scrap booking for example. ) - brief short walks, brief stretching, occasional games/interaction/intellectual stimulation. We are flexible on shifts/hours and we work on a monthly schedule. The You must commit to monthly schedules in advance. And we can accommodate your schedule as we understand that "life happens". Availability to work many of the weekend shifts will be a priority. Dinner 4:30 - 7:00 Evening 8:00 - 1... PM Saturday Breakfast 8:30 - 1... Lunch 11:30 - ... Dinner 4:00 - 7:00 Evening 8:00 - 1... PM We are flexible with the time spent at the house. Usually it is common that you are there more for her peace of mind (safety/comfort) than to do things. She is fine doing "her thing" by herself. So you will not be engaged the entire shift (lots of downtime and there might be nothing to do so you are free to watch tv, read, study etc.) Patience and a professional approach is needed for this role to be effective and lasting.
