Elder Care in Rochester, New Hampshire

My grandmother was my best friend growing up and looking back over childhood memories I cannot think of a time when she wasn't taking care of an elderly relative or family friend, with me in tow. We were always going here and there,stopping by to check on this one after a big snow storm,or bringing over a giant pot of homemade stew when news got to her of illnesses, a step ladder, toolbox and cleaning supplies to help with anything needed,any repairs at news of a neighbor with a broken bone, a casserole and baked goods to anyone with a new baby, and she didn't stop at humans. The many, many late night injured animal vet emergencies,the countless species of my new found temporary playmates I got to help nurse back to health,my favorite was a baby raccoon named Toby. And then one day it was her turn, to be the recipient. My Grandmother embodied a seemingly endless reserve of gentle,respectful,dignified love that was incapable of being contained. Her final chapter was written in a bedroom at my aunt's house,with all those who she so kindheartedly touched by her side. I like to believe that, When her story reached the page closest to the back cover, the sequel to her story was released, for her loved ones to write. I obtained my NH LNA in 2006, and have enjoyed the role of "adopted granddaughter" while creating opportunities for many to continue living comfortably in their homes ever since. Caring for others is a wonderful feeling, but if you are solely responsible for maintaining the safety,health and well being of another it can quickly leave you feeling isolated,sleep deprived and burnt out. That's where I like to come in, not only am I confident in my commitment to treating your loved one with respect and knowledgeable care, while patiently providing the appropriate level of supervision and assistance in any/all activities of daily living, I'll be giving you long overdue moments of free time in which you can take care of you,without feeling guilty. I look forward to connecting as together we develop a plan,based on the needs of you and your family member. Every person is unique and the service I provide is as well, whether the time I spend is used assisting with personal hygiene,household chores,meals,crafting,socializing,or reminiscing, the level of assistance is in correlation to the level necessary for your elder to remain independent,retain dignity,and refrain from living anywhere other than home. At your request I will keep logs to provide you with a journal,which will further assist you in keeping informed of anything that happens while your away, document changes and develop a schedule suited to planning activities, routines and appointments in ways compatible with the desires and preferences of everyone in your household. I also am available to transport/accompany for medical appointments, assist with shopping, run errands,provide meal preparation (daily,and/or cook ahead for reheat by you), cook, bake, wash/dry/fold laundry, organization, light housework, in home safety assessment, furniture/room arrangements to provide ease of ambulation, research and advocacy for community support, and pet care.
