Elder Care in Port Sydney, Ontario

I am almost 19 and recently finished my first year at Carleton University for a bachelor of science in Life and Health science honours. I enjoy working with people of a variety of ages, and am very outgoing and enjoy lots of different activities! My first job was working at Muskoka Haven Retirement home, providing care for seniors with and without a variety of disabilities and difficulties. When I started the job, my duties included housekeeping, meal preparation, and helping staff prepare residence for dinner and bed time. As I gained more experience, I would be put in charge of meal preparation by myself, looking after all residence (roughly 15) by myself, putting residence to bed, changing them, taking them to the washroom, and helping them with everyday difficulties. I loved this job because it let me experience working with elderly people that have a vast amount of knowledge, and allowed me to communicate with them regularly.
