Elder Care in Hagerstown, Maryland

Hello, My name is Sherry, and I'm the mother of two grown sons and the grandmother to 5 grandchildren. (4 girls and one boy) ranging from 21 to 9 yrs of age, and I love them all dearly! I'm a dependable, compassionate, person, with a personality to match, I'm easy to speak to and I love learning from and caring for the elderly. My grandmother was my best friend, and I miss her so much, but, I have never forgotten the things she taught me. I have been a Personal Care Assistant in a local Assisted Living Facility, and I was an Activity Leader for Dementia/Alzheimers residents as well. I am not a licensed nurse, but, I have much knowledge in caring for, and being a friend to those who are lonely, and unable to care for themselves. I cared for my father when he was a stroke victim for 22 yrs before he passed. Caring for him entailed helping with his bathing, fixing his meals and helping him eat and drink due to the numbness of his face and mouth. He also needed help getting to and from the bathroom, and care getting back up and freshened. I got him out of bed every morning, dressed him, and put his brace on his foot and leg as he was paralyzed totally on his left side. I combed his hair, shaved his face when needed, and helped him with his breakfast. When bedtime arrived, we did everything I just mentioned but in reverse. I read to my father every night before he closed his eyes to sleep, and would do the same anytime of the day for your loved one as well. I've also cared for a diabetic 92 yr old gentleman for 6 months before he passed away as well. I am willing to be a full-time provider and would love cooking meals, washing clothes, and tidying your house as well. I'd very much enjoy taking your loved one to Dr appts, to the grocery store, or just for a ride in the country, or out for an ice cream, thus giving them a change of scenery. I was educated in CPR, but, it recently expired, and I will get them updated. I also know the Hymlick Maneuver for adults and children. Please keep me in mind for whatever your needs are.
