With over ten years\' experience working with people, I have developed excellent listening and communication skills and am able to adapt to my clients\' needs. I am available to support seniors in their home or in the community. I provide light house keeping and laundry services. I also provide cooking and meal preparation services. I can accommodate dietary needs and some cultural preferences. I am also capable of doing minor home repairs. With a reliable vehicle I am also available to accompany seniors to run errands or attend appointments. I will drive you there, enter the store with you, help you read labels, and carry out your packages. After returning home, I will ensure you get inside and your items are put away. I am also available as a companion to help pass the solitary times. We can also spend time doing hobbies you might enjoy, such as knitting, quilting, card and board games, gardening, wood working, and more. I am always up to learning things if you have something particular that you\'d like to focus on. I also provide scheduled telephone calls to check in with seniors on a regular basis, if preferred. I do not provide medical care, personal hygiene, or toileting support. I have over ten years' experience working in community health settings, primarily in mental health and addictions services. I developed a keen interest in working with seniors when I learned that 1 in 2 seniors will develop a mental illness in their later years. I am known for being patient, compassionate, and a good listener. I am experienced working with people with physical disabilities, Alzheimer's Disease, terminal illnesses, hoarding, and those dealing with grief. I have a knack for helping people move through difficult transition periods with some ease. Having worked in the Hamilton and Halton areas, I am also familiar with services and programs and how to access them. I can help you and your family navigate the system, fill out referral forms, and help communicate with other service providers as needed. First Aid and CPR trained. Additional training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention. No criminal history. Experience working in vulnerable sectors.
