I have known Katie F for about 20 years, although not well until she worked for me for 2 summers starting in 2018 helping me in my garden. In the garden i found her to be a steady and careful worker. Also rugged and undaunted by things like cold April rain. She recognized the smallest seedlings so she could distinguish which was a weed and which was a wanted volunteer plant. She had no trouble asking me if she did not know. She never just charged ahead without checking. By chance Katie was assigned to my sister-in-law when she (age 86 and grossly overweight) needed physical assistance and a friendly attitude to help her sort out her situation as living became more complicated. Of all the health workers who helped my sister-in-law during her last 6 months, Katie was a constant and Nan's favorite. Katie performed physical help of dressing, helping her move, eating, helping her with her toilet and bathing her. Katie was also a good sounding board, and she could and did make my sister-in-law laugh, which meant a lot to my sister-in-law. While I have always felt Katie has all the attributes, and intelligence, to be a registered nurse, she prefers to actually work hands-on with her patients. She likes her patients. She is very aware of what she can and cannot do, and will refer to the nurse in charge if there is a question about medications or other things. So she definitely knows her boundaries, both personal and professional. She is strong, and a hard, steady worker and genuinely likes most of her patients, forming relationships with them and their families. I am often amazed at how she does not get burned out with the intensity of hospice work, especially. Katie is mature, down-to-earth, fun, knowledgeable, curious and professional. The other thing is that when you are with Katie you feel safe. I think that is especially appreciated by her patients when they are failing in one way or another. Katie is a positive, helpful presence and very dedicated to her patients. She has a deep sense of fairness. I think she would be a great asset in any situation she chose to work in. I recommend her highly and without reservations of any kind. V Weber
