Elder Care in Lakeland, Florida

Over the past several years, I have been caregiver for my husband who encountered two bouts of cancer. He is now cancer-free but it was a long arduous with him needing 24/7 care. Also years ago, I worked as a nursing assistant in a nursing home for older adults. Just recently my mother who just turned 91 passed away and I helped to provide at home care for her. Unfortunately, it was necessary to place her in a nursing facility. I spent hours with her at the nursing home helping to care for her. I realized that it wasn't just about the physical care, it was about the compassion and patience that was needed. When she passed away, I determined to find a place where I could help others in this similar situation. With a background in education leadership and counseling, I find easy to provide help and support for the client as well as the family. Even though my background is academic, at this point, it is not about degrees of education, it is about the care and support that older citizens and their family are in need of. I now have the time now to do that. Last year, I retired from the classroom having taught a South Mckeel Academy after moving from Pennsylvania. I am a certified teacher in both PA and FL. I had been in education for over 35 years. I am an active member of my church serving on the church board as well as being the director of the Sunday Study Groups. References can be obtained from both places. While I still have responsibilities to meet, I do have time to assist with the care and support of those in need. I am not interested in full-time care but can offer 15 - 20 hours a week in care.
