Elder Care in North York, Ontario

Looking for a companion position I am able to do light housekeeping, drive to appointments and go shopping, accompany clients to social engagements, etc. With specific training, I would also be willing to assist in some personal care About me: I have just completed my Bachelor of Social Work at York University, a school well known for its Anti-oppressive practice framework, and I have a previous BA in Psychology. Pursuit of these two separate but related lines of study has helped me to gain a perspective which encompasses wellbeing on personal and interpersonal levels, as well as larger social structures and pressures which produce and perpetuate social inequity and oppression, and the ways in which these affect us on an individual level. I am passionate about the wellness of others and I strive to create spaces of empowerment in which people can grow towards becoming the best versions of themselves. In addition to my educational history, I have a strong background in administrative work as well as some teaching experience. I have demonstrated ingenuity, problem-solving, leadership, initiative, and organization in a variety of circumstances, and my diverse professional experiences have provided several opportunities to develop these traits. I was an active member of the London and Middlesex Local Immigration Partnership’s Health and Well-being sub-council. I believe that the holistic well-being of a person is of the utmost importance and cannot be fully realized if there are barriers to achieving a balance of mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness. People have always considered me to be very approachable, kind, and easy to talk to, and I balance my professionalism and dedication to my work with a positive and pleasant personality. I have the experience to guide and advise others, the warmth, humour, caring and interpersonal skills to foster a comfortable atmosphere and therapeutic alliances, and I approach tasks with energy and enthusiasm.
