Elder Care in London, Ontario

I'm an
Individual
My name is Emily and I am currently completing my third year of a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at Western University. I am currently completing my placement at Victoria Hospital with a rotation on Sub-Acute Medicine, Nephrology and Palliative care. The nursing program has given me the opportunity to develop interpersonal skills and work collaboratively in teams, allowing me to better aid my patients. I frequently perform bedside care routines such as bathing, dressing, feeding, etc. and am therefore comfortable translating these skills to home-care. The skills I have developed in this program have greatly enhanced my comfortability and confidence working with others, which I believe will greatly benefit caregiving for older adults. I am extremely confident in providing care for older adults with dementia and therefore am very willing to work with these individuals. I am on the Western Rowing team and work to continually push my limits both physically and mentally every day. Having this active lifestyle, I understand the importance of physical activity and play to a child’s health. I also have a passion for natural and healthy food, and the various creative dishes I can make with them. I have always been passionate about food nutrition and have supplemented this curiosity with various courses and seminars. I believe that my knowledge in holistic health, which includes physical activity and proper nutrition, would pair perfectly with a family that embraces this lifestyle. I am very efficient with creating and following schedules for myself and others. I am currently on the Dean’s Honor list, which I intend to maintain while completing my undergrad as a student athlete. I have a background in horticulture and am also comfortable completing other household duties such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. I have completed my First Aid/ CPR certification and have annual police checks as a requirement for my program. In the past I have worked with individuals with both mental and physical disabilities. I am confident in providing care to any individual and understand the importance of being respectful to other’s limitations. I consider myself to be very outgoing and possess developed interpersonal skills that assist me when working with others. I hope to be able to share my knowledge and experience with your family. For any questions feel free to email me at [email protected]. Thank you for your time and consideration.
