My name is Mary Smith (yes that's right, Mary Smith). I decided to take a course as a patient care attendant because I wanted to participate in client care, assiting them to perform tasks that would maintain their independence and dignity through the illness spectrum. I have spent over 14 years in an acute care facility but noticed that I was missing the human factor, therefore I decided to seek home care employment opportunities that would allow me to reconnect with clients on a more individual, personal level. I have worked with autistic children and show compassion and caring. I have used the same compassion and caring with working with geriatic patients. I am a hard worker, reliable and very optimistic. I am also very flexible and I always offer 120%. I love what I do and look forward to working with you and your family. I have 15 years experience in the institutional healthcare setting and possess the necessary skills required to perform collaboratively in an efficient and safe manner.I have accumulated extensive experience working with the elderly and I am comfortable in a diverse range of situations,having spent the last 14 years working with various types of patients through acute lliness to long term care and palliative care assisting clients with basic needs, grooming, toileting, mobilization, feeding, etc. I like to talk and listen to the stories that clients share and am interested in learning the client's "story". By doing this it helps you to better understand the client's needs and how you can assit them through whatever transition they are experiencing.
