Elder Care in Glen Burnie, Maryland

Hey! My name is Kiersten. Im 29 years old. I have about 6 years of experience working with disabled/elderly patients. Im certified in CPR and First aid. I have experience driving handicapped vehicles, My first job in this field was taking care of my grandmother. I helped her for the last 3 years she was alive. When i first started helping her out she fell and broke her hip and she never really fully recovered from that. She went on to have 2-3 strokes. She had dementia, and just wasnt the wonderful loving woman she once was. By the end of it all she couldnt walk at all. I would have to wheel her to the bathroom and get her on and off of the toilet. Pick her up and sit her in her favorite chair, and feed her. It was very very hard. Since then, ive worked with a few families. The first being (and i actually worked with these people 2 or 3 different times for months at a time) a lovely woman named Dawn. She had Spina Bifida. i would have to use a lift to get her out of bed in the morning to move her to her wheel chair. I helped her with basically everything including her 5 pets. Ive also worked with a 91 year old man named Joe. He had Parkinsons and diabetes so i would help with his insulin as well as other medications. he was a big fall risk so i would mostly follow him around. make sure he got to the toilet/shower safely, helped get him dressed. made meals, and helped his daughter who he lived with. (im not just there to help the patient. If the family needs help im also there for them as well to help with whatever they need) Ive worked with a really cool guy named Dave. He had MS. he was in super good shape so i really just had to spend time with him and make meals. after that i was working with an AWESOME 93 year old woman named Evy. It was a live-in position. i was there for about 4 months. She was a major fall risk which is why i lived with her. she didnt have any other family close by. she was the coolest old lady ive ever met! she needed help with cooking and cleaning and showering and dressing and pretty much everything but she still got around very good! My most recent job was working with a day program with people that have intellectual disabilities! been working there for a few months now but ill be quitting soon because ill be moving. :( if you have any questions please feel free to send me a message!
