This letter is in reference to Jane Obunse who has been my father's caregiver since 2015. My father is a stroke and Parkinson's patient whose level of care has increased significantly since his stroke in 2015. Jane has been his primary caregiver while he lives at home with my elderly mother, but also throughout multiple hospitalizations and rehab stays. Her excellent care is the sole reason my father has been able to live safely at home for as long as he has. Jane provides my father with assistance in all of his activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing, incontinence care, eating, gastric tube care, medication administration, light meal preparation and light housekeeping. She also assists him with daily physical activity in the form of physical therapy exercises, monitored use of stationary bicycle, and full-assisted walking with a walker. She helps him with all transfers to and from his wheelchair. She performs all of the above activities in a safe, professional, and efficient manner with great attention to detail. She is truly diligent in her work, exceedingly patient and calm, and exceptionally trustworthy as a person. In fact, Jane frequently goes above and beyond her duties and is always lending a hand wherever needed. Most importantly, Jane has established a delightful rapport with my father (who has difficulty sometimes communicating with speech) and her positive, encouraging, gentle, warm, and cheerful approach allowed them to quickly establish trust with each other so that he looks forward to her company every day. In fact, all of us in the family do. Living with a chronic illness can be very tough for the patient and the family as well, but having Jane as my father's caregiver has relieved a significant burden of stress and worry on my mother and the rest of our family. We would love nothing more than to continue having Jane with us, but unfortunately my father's condition requires that we move him overseas to his homeland. Thus, my family and I give Jane the highest recommendation to any future employer for her expertise, commitment to safety, hardworking nature, and empathic warmth.
