Hi Marc – The job you posted is right up my alley. The philosophy I would like to share with you and your Dad is simple: 1) Care for him as I would my own dad. That means exploring his interests and needs to help him enjoy a more fulfilling life. Bring contentment and peace to his day and make plans to motivate him for tomorrow. 2) Keep open communications between you and me for discussion and changes that you may want for him and to be honest and helpful to your Dad in implementing those changes. I have spent twenty plus years in a career that was people focused with volunteers and clients. After retirement I entered into various volunteer endeavors, currently the Marine Corps League and my church, Clairemont Christian Church. I’m an active member and chair of “Any Excuse for a Party” at church which enhances our fellowship gatherings and plans other events such as weddings, etc. I have also been a companion to a senior living in La Jolla. We went to lunch, shopping and had fun together. I also ran her errands and helped out the family with various other tasks such as doctor’s appointments, grocery shopping, airport shuttles, Christmas gatherings, etc. and interacted with her daughter to keep her apprised of items I thought she should know about. I love to chat, especially about the military, days gone by and the news. I’m a good cook and don’t mind doing simple household tasks. I have a current CRP certificate as well.
