Elder Care in Winnipeg, Manitoba

I have a great deal of interest in the care of the elderly. I enjoy their company and to hear everything they have to say, I value and respect them. Having my 4 grandparents for most of my life definitely contributed to that. I would really like to get back into health care with seniors on a casual or part time basis while I complete my psychiatric nursing degree. I grew up with four grandparents who I adored. At different points in all their lives I have provided care for them, one with severe Alzheimer's. This prompted me to become a certified health care aide and after that I worked in the personal care unit at Riverview Health Centre for roughly 2 years. It was my favourite job to date, and my only reason for leaving was that I required full time hours and just didn't have enough seniority to pick up extra shifts. My responsibilities and duties varied, anything from personal hygiene/care, feeding, dressing, visiting, bathing, peri-care, transport for appts, etc.
