Elder Care in Kinston, North Carolina

I spent the last eleven years of my life caring for my elderly mother-in-law, Kathleen Hall. When she was mobile and self-sufficient, I made sure she attended all her doctor visits and assisted her with her personal care. Three years ago, she was diagnosed with the onset of Alzheimer and her health started deteriorating and she eventually became bedridden. Thanks to the Geriatric Nursing Assistant Program that I took at Coppin State University, I was able to provide her with the 24 hour care that she needed. I bathed her, changed her clothes, prepared her special meals, fed her, changed her diapers, administered her medication, provided wound care on her right foot, changed her bedding, washed and combed her hair and took her to doctor visits. During her hospice care, I assisted the nurse with her assessments. Prior to Mama becoming bedridden, I worked at the Lisa Vogel Nursing Agency, providing care for a client that has Cerebral Palsy. The client needed TOTAL care, and every skill I ever learned and my compassionate and caring personality was utilized to care for the client.
