Elder Care in Ottawa, Ontario

I am a 32 year old female. I am looking for part time/casual work assisting families in need of help caring for an elder in the family or a family member with a disability. I have a Social Service Worker College Diploma and other certifications including, but not limited to, First Aid/CPR, Crisis Prevention, Applied Suicide Intervention, Managing Challenging Behaviors, and American Sign Language level 1. I enjoy traveling, I have traveled to Mexico, Orlando, Boston, Pittsburgh, Niagara Falls and other local areas with adults in wheelchairs. I have traveled to South Africa, Botswana, Cuba and other destinations for my own enjoyment and growth. I believe traveling and experiencing other cultures has prepared me the most for being a positive, attentive helper. I am in a transition period of my life, I will be taking on a new asleep overnight position as opposed to my full time day position. I am hoping to gain new life experiences, I will be taking further educational courses, trying new volunteer opportunities, and I\'d like to become more involved with my community in general. I would love to find someone in need of my services and companionship who I can also teach and learn from while supplementing my loss of income. I\'d prefer to find casual employment in Ottawa\'s West End, but am willing to travel further if I find the right connection with someone. I do own a vehicle but am looking for a position that doesn\'t require me to have my car for every shift.
