Elder Care in Edmonton, Alberta

Hello there ! My name is Maria and I am 44. y.o. My work experienced with the elderlies was a calling for me , I guess so :) . I am a graduate of Nursing in the Philippines although I have never applied my degree after graduating for some reason . When I got my only child , I decided to go abroad and so I took a six (6) mos. caregiver course and after that I had made an experienced taking care of Seniors specifically with dementia and Alzheimer\'s for eight (8 ) years , and that is 4 years in the country of Israel and 3 years here in Sherwood Park, alberta. With my experienced , having a warm and supportive family of my clients had given me more inspiration to be always motivated with what I do with regards to taking care of them . I am a hardworking , heart warming , sincere, , jolly , nice and honest person. I can tackle changes too with the Seniors with regards to their physical and mental health. With regards to elderly care , it is not only knowledge and experience that a good worker should have, there must be also compassion love, understanding and emotional support required to give them a quality of life that they needed and for me my heart will always go for these people and also anybody with medical issues that needed care. I had worked and I had an experienced as a Live In Caregiver for 8 years with Seniors . My first 4 years were in Israel. I had worked with all Senior ladies while I was there. Here in Alberta, I had work for 3 years with a 91 y.o.man . All had different cases but mainly all has dementia and Alzheimer's disease. My general duties and responsibilities were : meal preparations, bathing , toileting , dressing them up, changing of diapers, giving them good skin care , cleaning of dentures, light housekeeping , assisting on going for walks , giving of oral medications, transferring from wheelchair using sit and stand and sometimes manual transfer using proper technique and position , divertion when they became anxious , giving them some activities for mental stimulation like coloring , painting, watching t.v., reading of newspaper and playing cards . I had managed to change colostomy bag to one of my clients and also had done massage theraphy after one of them had a fractured wrist. With the Seniors I know that it is not only Knowledge and experience that is important , for me putting my heart and soul on my work and giving the love , compassion and understanding and providing emotional support is the most fulfilling when you gave it and show it to those with such conditions like them.
