Hello! My name is Jessica Rochman-Fowler. I am a recent Bachelor of Social Work graduate from Carleton University. During my time at Carleton, I did a placement in long-term care with people with dementia, which informed and solidified my passion for working with seniors. I connect well with seniors, and have met and maintained many relationships with the people I worked with in long-term care. One such relationship resulted in being hired as a sitter for a woman in her 90s with dementia. I am a caring and compassionate individual who is willing to go above and beyond for the seniors I work with. I love getting to know the seniors I work with and in turn, have them get to know me. It is my ultimate goal to continue working with seniors throughout my career. Sitter, Ottawa, Ontario � Plan appropriate activities to do with senior, including outdoor activities, reading activities � Help senior at meal times with transferring from wheelchair to table chair, help with feeding, including encouragement and feeding if necessary � Communicate with senior's family on her progress, mood etc in a regular, pleasant manner Extendicare New Orchard Lodge (Long-term Care Facility), Ottawa, Ontario � Involved working with residents suffering from various forms of dementia, including Alzheimer�s, as well as various physical disabilities � Help to ensure that new residents receive the best care possible through the Guardian Angel program, which includes meeting with new residents for six weeks following admission � Help to facilitate recreational programs for the residents, such as baking programs, tea parties, trivia etc. � Record information on residents in their chart, which is read by all staff � Assist residents at meal time with encouragement and feeding if necessary
