Elder Care in Pittsford, New York

Hello! This is my first time on Elder Care. I have been a stay-at-home mom to three boys for the last ten years. Prior to that, I was a companion to an elderly woman for two years, then provided live-in care for my grandparents for four years. I recently completed 6 months of a 15 month nursing program at U of R. Unfortunately, I did not complete the RN program due to childcare complications. While in school I completed clinicals at Monroe Community Hospital and on the Cardiovascular surgery unit at Strong Hospital. I also provided basic care for a woman with mid-stage Alzheimer's. While I am not licensed, I am a companion and basic caretaker. My abilities include: helping clients with daily personal tasks such as: bathing, feeding, dressing, experience with the morbidly obese, support with intellectual disabilities, cooking, cleaning, completing errands, monitoring I/U, and most important, good conversation. I have cared for people with a variety of illnesses and challenges and feel extremely comfortable around people from all races, ethnicities, cultures, and walks of life. I am originally from Fort Worth, Texas. I graduated from Texas Woman's University with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Sociology. I am hoping to attend Grad school or to finish my RN degree. I've lived in Rochester for the last four years. My mother lives with me and my sons here in Pittsford. After 5pm and overnights are preferable; or any time of the day if you don't mind a 5-year-old boy visiting as well. He will start Kindergarten in September, at which point I will be available any time of the day. I am willing to work as many or as few hours needed. I really love working with the elderly. My grandparents raised me so I have always felt like I have more in common with my elders than I do my peers! I enjoy antiques, reading, writing, hiking, swimming, cake decorating, and traveling. I am a non-smoker and do not drink alcohol or take . I have reliable transportation and a valid DL. I am really hoping to reenter the workforce and be of service to people. Pay is negotiable.
