Elder Care in Brant, Ontario

Hey my name is Chantelle. I volunteered at an old age home which involved accompanying older adults in daily activities. Currently, I am volunteering at an adult recreation centre with elders who are living with aphasia post-stroke. For the past two years at this centre I have worked along side speech therapists aiding in the therapy groups and helping the speech therapists with new ideas for the group. I am extremely passionate about helping other people-especially older adults. Being able to give my energy to those who need it most is extremely rewarding and that is why I took my bachelors degree in health studies and gerontology and plan to take my masters in speech pathology. In my bachelors degree I had taken many courses on aging which included topics on autonomy, ageism, embodied aging and so forth. I believe I am a great individual to work with older adults because not only do I have the educational and hands on experience but I am kind, hard-working, motivated, respectful, social, and reliable.
