I quickly realized my mom's quality of life was better with Sharon than without Sharon and thus they became a team. Sharon spent each day with my mom and carried out her responsibilities with the utmost professionalism - she was rarely late (despite a cross borough commute on public transportation) or missed a shift (even arranging for coverage herself on the few occasions she was unable to cover her shift). My mom's care sometimes required someone to be with her overnight. Sharon never balked and worked whatever shift was needed - she always put my mom's needs first. In fact, during the last weeks of my mom's life it was Sharon who was with her for the overnight so that mu mom was never alone. It was Sharon who called me that last morning - ensuring i could be with my mom when she died - I am forever in her debt for providing me that gift. Sharon H provided excellent care for my mother, a severe dementia sufferer, for more than two years. Despite my mother's at times erratic and abusive behavior, Sharon provided patient, compassionate and capable care. Her very presence was often enough to soothe and calm my mother's mood. Sharon looked after every one of my mother's personal needs and made sure she was clean, well dressed, fed and content.
