I am a retired RN with 25 years experience providing care for people with AIDS. I worked both in an outpatient clinic, supporting patients' efforts to maintain their health, and as a hospice nurse, offering end of life support to patients and their loved ones. My most important goal in caring for all my patients was to assure them as much independence and control as possible, with the understanding that each of us is an individual deserving of dignity and respect. Illness and infirmity present special circumstances: obstacles to be overcome and challenges to rise to. It is a privilege to be present in people's lives at such times. Today I seek a part time position that would offer me the chance to put to use the skills and talents I developed over the course of my career. If there is an individual who needs assistance in performing the routine activities of daily life, a family who wants respite from the stress of caring for a loved one, or someone who just seeks companionship as an antidote to loneliness, I would very much appreciate to opportunity to be of service.
