Elder Care in Springfield, Illinois

Hello, my name is Laurie. I am an elder care provider living in Springfield who is professional and wants to help you in any way possible. I did work in nursing homes in the early 90's but I could not take the way the clients were treated. In 2010 I had the honor and privilege to take care of my Father the last six months of his life. My sister flew with him from Texas to Springfield Illinois and that first night he was with us, I came down stairs to get a drink of water and he was in the kitchen fixing himself a great big class of milk and cookies and I thought "yeah Dad" but things went down hill from then on. My Dad started getting blisters all over his body. It was an immune system thing that attacked my 86 year old Father. I feel like perhaps people suffer the last stage of their life so that it is easier for family members when their loved ones pass. We had the best hospice help and I thought to myself "I would love to work as a great care giver!" I believe that taking care of the elderly is the highest privilege a person can have in life. My brothers and sisters are in their late 60's & 70's, they call me now when they need help and I am always willing to go and help them out. This past year, I have been to three different states just helping out my brothers and sisters, I was in Houston for three weeks helping out after the hurricane. I decided to look closer to home for work as a care giver. I have always been passionate about taking care of others, whether it is taking care of campers, children with needs or the elderly.
