Elder Care in Rancho Palos Ver, California

Like many Aging Life Care Managers, I got my start in this business by being in a Caregiver's role, spending nearly 6 years (voluntarily) taking care of my mother-in-law; it was an extremely rewarding experience. As I look back on that time I realize that not only was it a privilege to be there for her, but I also learned so much!! We're not often ready to 'jump in' and take over someone's life in an instant, but that is exactly what we do as Caregivers. I remember spending countless hours on the phone, faxing documents, taking notes, traveling to Doctor's appointments, managing prescriptions, solving various problems 'on the fly'-and developed whatever systems were necessary in order to literally 'take over someone's life-' and yet, still try to run my own... While I wouldn't change the fact that I gave up my career (at the time), I sure could have used the help and guidance of an Aging Life Care Manager... While I was in the middle of all of this, I decided that my passion was to help seniors and their families not have to go through what I went through. I knew back then that I wanted to become an Aging Life Care Manager. I studied Gerontology first through Boston University's - Center for Aging, Disability & Research; and then later through the University of Southern California's - Davis School of Gerontology. More recently, I became a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) through the National Association of Home Builders. Now I am able to council clients who wish to make Home Modifications to accommodate disabilities. My goal in becoming an Aging Life Care Manager is to help families with these very real challenges of aging, so they don't have to do this alone... I want to help "Transform the Aging Experience..."
