I'm working at sunrise at fairoaks for almost 11years as a designated care manager. I'm providing a basic personal care, social care and emotional support to the residents who need my help with day-to-day tasks. My role as a designated care manager is to help the residents to keep as much independence as possible. and to be as socially and physically active as they can. the main part of my role is to plan and supervise social activities. Social care is very important, and it is essential to caring and trusting relationships with my residents that i work with. I talk to my residents , listen to their memories, and reassure them if they are anxious or confused. I must be aware of any changes in an individual's physical or mental health, such as pain, loss of mobility, depression or anxiety. I must have an understanding of the needs of my residents,including their social and emotional needs. Patience, compassion, tact and a sense of humor are vital qualities, especially if i work with my residents who do not like to admit that they need my help. I will need strong communication and interpersonal skills to develop caring, trusting relationships with my residents I must be able to respect each individual's right to keep as much independence and privacy as they can.
