Elder care Job in Vaughan, Ontario

We are looking for a compassionate live-out PSW/Caregiver for our elderly parents.  They live in a retirement residence in the Dufferin and Major Mackenzie area.  This position would be from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday.

Main responsibilities include:
- Assisting person(s) with activities of daily living -- personal care/hygiene, dressing, mobility, medication and medication reminders, hearing aid care, exercise and maintaining routines
- Accompanying them to meals
- Light housekeeping duties– dusting, vacuuming, sweeping and mopping floors (as needed), laundry/ironing
- General companionship and hospice care
- Comfortable with providing care and comfort during end of life
- Monitoring patient medications and updating health chart
- Monitoring oxygen use and equipment
- Maintaining open communication between families and health care professionals
- Documenting and reporting any changes in client’s health status
- Ensuring safety and well-being

Additional criteria:
- Experience in caring for persons with cognitive decline/dementia is preferred.
- Provides care with compassion and understanding.
- Fluent spoken English is required.  Any Italian language skills would be an asset.
- Must have knowledge of and demonstrate compliance with the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Documentation of having received Covid-19 vaccine; willingness to undergo Covid-19 testing, as needed.
- Must follow protocols outlined by the retirement residence.
- Must have the legal right to work in Canada and have references.  We are not looking to sponsor anyone at this time.

Pay is negotiable.
