As well my duties include: health teaching about proper nutrition for dialysis patients, medication reviews, blood work,medication administration and data entry into our NephroCare computer system. Continuous patient assessments are completed with each patient throughout their 4 hour treatments. Registered Practical Nurse-Emergency Department(02/10-0...) Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital-Emergency Department I started working in the emergency department at JBMH in August of 2009 as part of the resource team. I was offered a permanent spot in March of 2010. I was responsible for minor assessments and treatments of no urgent patients, telemetry placement and monitoring, IV initiations, venipuncture, patient data entry into computers for electronic documentations, patient assessments and care plans. I found working in the emergency department has allowed me to broaden my scope and allow me to better analyze and treat different patient situations as well as allow me to collaborate with fellow RN’s and RPN’s to get the best possible outcome for our patients. I was also given the opportunity here to train fellow RPN’s to work in the ER as well. Registered Practical Nurse-Resource Team (06/09-0...) Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital-various floors in hospitalDuring my time on the resource team I was able to float between many different nursing areas. I began in the medicine program and then branched out to the cardiac, geriatric, mental health, surgical, orthopedic and emergency departments. I have been able to grow my scope of practice to allow myself flexibility in situations. I obtained cardiac monitoring classes and well as a certificate in pediatric emergency response through continuing education opportunities. Registered Practical Nurse-Medicine(08/08-0...) Kingston General Hospital-Connell 3 Within this medicine unit I was responsible for distribution of medications, including narcotics, patient assessments, personal care as well as transcription of MD orders. While my time spent on this floor was mostly centered around patients with pneumonias and bronchial infections, I was able to work with cardiac patients, mental health, and genreal surgery patients.
