Elder Care in Sudbury, Ontario

Hi, my name is leanne I am 46 years old, I am a personal support worker. I graduated 6 years ago in hopes of finding a job relating more to alzheimers and dementia patients as I know there is need for all our elderly but especially those who suffer from this disease. While in school at everest collage I did my placement on the dementia floor at extendicare York in sudbury, and graduated with honors. Following graduation I worked at an independand living facility for persons with disabilities, and found it was not my calling, I knew I really wanted to work with the elderly. I then worked for the canadian red cross in home care. I had one patient who was terminal with cancer that I had from 8-4 mon-friday with full care including bathing, toileting, meal prep, house cleaning, respite care and administering meds. After only 3 months unfortunately my patient was admitted to a hospital and shortly after a hospice. I did not continue with the red cross as they could not find full time employment at that time. Since then I have been and still am a full time medical aesthetician at the talk of the town spa, which I have been certified in for 22 years. As well as working full time I have done some respite care for family's with loved ones with dementia. I would love the opportunity to work in this field again with possibility of full time employment.
