Hi my name is Candace. I have been a caregiver for a little over 12 years now. I been a Certified Nursing Assistant for 12 years. I recently worked at Piedmont Athens Regional as a Patient Care Tech on the General Surgery floor for 7 1/2 years. I also worked as a CNA at BJC Nursing Home for 4 years. On the General Surgery floor I performed tasks such as, monitoring vital signs pre and post op surgery, ostomy/colostomy care, monitor blood glucose levels, ambulation assistance of pre and post op surgery patients, monitor intake and outputs, bathing patients pre and post op surgery, using lifts, such as the "Hoyer" and "Sara" lifts to lift non-ambulatory patients using proper lifting techniques, incontinence care, bed linen changes, turn and repositioning of total care patients, and feeding or feeding assistance of total care patients. On the General Surgery floor I cared for patients such as, pre and post op surgery, dialysis, oncology or cancer, stroke, AKA or above the amputee, BKA or below the knee amputee, dementia and Alzheimer's, etc. I love caring for those that are unable to care for themselves, it is my passion.
