Elder Care in High River, Alberta

Hi name is Colleen, I used to be an LPN Saskatchewan many years ago, but, moved to Alberta and had two more children and let my LPN laps because my husband and I decided for me to be a stay at home mom. Over the years my husband lost his job. So, I had to go back to work very quickly and there was no jobs that work with your schedule having four children so I ended up working at Cargill meat for eight years. Once I was able to look for a different job I went back to health care and I worked as a health care aid in high River Hospital for another eight years. I was finding that I was getting very attached to my patients and then when they would pass I would be devastated. And every day I was thinking about getting older and thinking about who would look after me when I get old, will there be someone nice that will look after me, someone kind, caring. These are some of the questions I thought. So I thought maybe it's time for a change. So I moved to South health campus in Calgary Alberta, and I moved to labour and delivery, total opposite end of the spectrum. But over the years I realize I really missed working with the elderly so I've been looking for some people to take care of while I still do my other job. And maybe down the line I would start doing it more often and work less on labour and delivery. I grew up having a great grandmother stay with us until she went to a home just because there is no one around to look after her full-time. I'm a very caring person and I love making people feel better and secure and safe. Before moving out here I also worked as an LPN in long-term care for a few years so to sum it up I have, been working with the elderly or the terminally ill for a great part of my life. So now you can probably understand why I love working with older patients. So please consider me for any caregiving positions. I do also have many references to give you if needed..
