Employer: Si Wai Lai Employers’ address: 253 Niagara Boulevard, Niagara-On-The-Lake, ON, L0S 1J0 Work Location: same as above Type of Employment: Full time - Permanent Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible Job Description: • Launder clothing and household linens • Assist client with bathing and other aspects of personal hygiene • Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties • Plan menus and cook meals • Provide companionship • Provide personal care • Shop for food and household supplies • Change non-sterile dressings • Collect specimens (if needed) • Assume full responsibility for household (in absence of householder) • Assist client to walk and accompany client on outings • Assist clients in water (i.e. pool) • Administer medications • Administer bedside and personal care • Mend clothing and linens • Assist client with dressing • Accompany the client to doctor’s appointments Requirements: -Education: some secondary school -Experience: At least a year of full-time experience as a caregiver or personal care attendant is required -First Aid Certificate is an asset Salary: $16.00 to $18.00 hourly, 40 to 44 Hours per week Benefits: Extended medical insurance, dental insurance and life insurance are provided after one year of full-time employment. Uniform and discount on designated restaurants are also provided. Important Information: - The personal care attendant will be responsible for the care of a 65 year old woman with a spinal cord injury. The care attendant must be with the employer when walking because she doesn’t have balance and risks falling down as the injury affects her legs (she walks with a cane or a walker). The care attendant must also help the employer with her daily tasks as she cannot use her hands for her injury. - Flexibility on schedule is required. Shifts: 9:45am to 7:00pm from Wednesday to Sunday. Hours can sometimes vary, weekend hours are required. - Optional accommodation available at no charge on a live-in basis.
