I enjoy serving the elderly, I have been working with Geriatrics for just over twenty years in a variety of settings. It's very rewarding work. Besides understanding the different needs of the elderly, it's important to choose a caregiver that is respectful, has patience, works to maintain dignity and offers ongoing support. If you are more comforted in knowing that a Nurse is the caregiver for your folks, then pick me! I'm starting my second career and slowing down from the hustle and bustle of 60 hour weeks. I will assist them as needed, offer med reminders, make meals and offer fluids, ensure they are safe, pick up around the house, take out the trash and just spend time with them and provide companionship. I can run errands as needed. I'm willing to spend a few hours with folks or if you just want someone to check in every day and make sure all is well, then I can also do that. Maybe you are monitoring their blood pressure or blood sugars and you just need a second set of eyes for your folks during the day while you are at work.
