Elder Care Job in Toronto, Ontario

This is a full time position with most Fridays off (after 9:30 a.m.), as well as Saturdays and Sundays until 7:00 p.m.. We are seeking a mature and warm live-in caregiver for two young men who are developmentally delayed. Each one is out of the house during the day, supervised either in a program or work place in the community. The men share a three bedroom home with a spacious downstairs unit with internet and private bathroom for the caregiver. The caregiver’s role is to maintain a happy, safe and family-like atmosphere in the house. The men require support in the morning with breakfast and getting ready to leave for the day, and then support and supervision, recreation and meal preparation from late afternoon through the evening. Each of them needs support in different areas and each one wants to contribute to the home as best they can. The caregiver will help them accomplish this and each boy’s family will support the caregiver in understanding individual needs. The families will provide orientation, training and ongoing support.
