Elder Care in Spanaway, Washington

I'm an
Individual
My name is Martha Camacho. I was born and raised in Manhattan, New York. I come from a very humble Puerto Rican family (bilingual English/Spanish). My family and I moved back to Puerto Rico in the mid-1970s. In the early 1990s, I moved with my husband and son to North Carolina. My first job in America was as a room attendant at a Quality Inn, where I cleaned routinely. During my time in North Carolina, I had jobs as a sales associate and some managerial positions for companies such as Bi-Lo, Winn-Dixie, and Wal-Mart. After providing for and raising my son, he joined the Air Force in 2011. It was in 2013 when my family and I found out my mother’s health began declining. We traveled back to Puerto Rico to get her and bring her close to us in North Carolina. At that time, I stopped prioritizing employment and focused solely on taking care of my mother. We got her a place in North Carolina and I moved in with her, staying by her side over the years. I was cleaning the house, bathing her, feeding her, loving her and providing everything I possibly could for her. With prayer, dedication and a lot of love, my mother began to get better over time. In January of 2017, we found a company (Outreach Health Services) that would basically hire someone who caring for an individual full time. In February, I began working for that company, doing the same thing, just getting paid for it. That helped a lot with finances and provisions. At times, we would have CNAs and other health care professionals come to the house and praise the work I was doing for my mother. Things were at their highest, however, in early 2017, her health began to decline again. I fought and worked for years to get my mother’s health back on track. Ultimately, she passed away at the end of May 2017. This was a very difficult time for me and still is. My son came back from Turkey this summer after performing military duties, and was going to Washington. We decided it would be best for me to go with him and try to gain new experiences, which is how I ended up here. After this experience with my mother, I decided to get involved more closely with a caregiving career field. I know it can be tough for others to care for their parents or loved ones, and I feel like that is something I can provide and excel at. I am hardworking, highly passionate, detailed, considerate, reliable, honest, sincere and much more. I am a fast learner and knowledgeable. I can clean, cook, care and love someone as my own. I feel as though I’m being called to be a caregiver to the elderly and I am following that calling. If you would like to ask about my skills in this profession, feel free to contact Tina Barron, Cape Fear Hospice social worker, at 910-705-... or Nica Personna, Cape Fear Hospital registered nurse, at 786-554-.... To contact me directly, text or call 978-429-... at any time. Thank you!
