Elder Care Job in Vancouver, British Columbia

Looking for a FEMALE LIVE-IN elder caregiver/house cleaner –Collingwood area, Vancouver To provide flexible, live-in senior’s companion services to an elderly Indo-Canadian female senior in her own home. Essential Job Functions: • Assist with regular walks • Ensure prescribed medication is taken in a timely manner • Plan and/or prepare Indian vegetarian meals, followed by clean-up • Make beds and change linens as needed • Light housekeeping to include sweeping, dusting and vacuuming etc. • Assist with bathing, dressing and grooming as needed • Laundry • Take out garbage • Run errands (pickup prescriptions, misc. groceries) • Make a grocery/supply list and file receipts • Drive to/from appointments (doctor, salon, services, events etc.) • Maintain calendar and schedule of appts/events • Join in on other family activities/events • Provide Companionship Other Duties: • Update designated family members on a regular basis regarding senior’s current mental, emotional and physical health and successes etc. • Communicate any significant changes to the family Requirements: • Current related experience and references • Applicant required to be in good mental and physical health • Prefer if applicant is able to communicate in Gujarati/Hindi but English is essential • Qualified applicant will be requested to complete a criminal record check • Class 5 driver’s licence and a copy of current ICBC driving record • Provide own transportation to and from job • Applicant must be attentive, flexible, patient, kind and also have excellent interpersonal, decision-making, caregiving and oral communication skills. • Available to start immediately. • A trial period of one to two weeks will be required to determine if it is a suitable fit for both applicant and senior.
