Elder Care in Kanata, Ontario

I am currently studying to be a social work at Algonquin College. I enjoy school and love working with seniors. In my other volunteer position at Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre, I work in an Adult Day Care Program with seniors who have Alzheimer’s disease. I am well educated about this disease and learned how to work with the clients and their family members. Through my volunteer experience, I have developed strong leadership and program-solving skills. I volunteer at an adult day care program for two years. I work with senior who have Dementia and Alzheimer. I also work with seniors who have diabetes. My role is to assist with recreational activities for senior citizens, provide support through conversation and social interactions, and de-brief daily with other volunteers in order to properly meet client needs
