Elder Care in Calgary, Alberta

I acquired a passion to be a health care worker having experienced my father\'s ill health, which caused me to go to school and become a health care aide, so that I could be properly trained to make my fathers last years happy and content in his own home. Our elder community are our legacy. We need to grasp their wisdom, and be willing to be an \"Open Sponge\" for their lifetime stories, and also be a good Listener. Being of Aboriginal descent, we are taught at an early age, to respect our elders and in our later years, be there to \"take care\" of them. I believe in this with a passion. I have so enjoyed being a caregiver, I believe in the sense of gratification we receive from giving of our time, and of our hearts filled with compassion and empathy. 1st client: Paraplegic/wheelchair/ diabetic and early stages of dementia. Full bathing, grooming, dressing. 87 male 2nd client: 92 year old male with rheumatoid arthritis, use of walker with assist. Full bathing, grooming, dressing. All patient was usually in a depressed state of mind. Had a cantankerous attitude, needed to be strong and firm but always showed that I cared for him. 3rd client: 73 year old male, severe diabetic, use of a walker with assist. Full bathing, grooming, dressing.
