Dear Sir/Ma'am, I am pleased to submit this letter for the position of Lived in caregiver for elderly/senior. I am a Registered nurse in the Philippines and also in United Arab Emirates where I worked as a Staff Nurse in one of the Medical Centers in UAE for almost four years. With the number of years that I became a Staff Nurse, I handled patients with different health issues , races , aged groups including geriatrics/elderly. Commonly, My duties and responsibilities for elderly patients are performing independent nursing care such as grooming, dressing, feeding, wound care, transferring patient from bed to wheelchair and vise-versa. With the use of proper lifting techniques or with the use of lifter if the patient is too heavy to carry, for incontinence and bed-ridden patient we check diaper every 2-3 hours, check patient's vital signs, ensure safety of the patients, enhancing communication skills of the patient by giving them the opportunity to converse whenever possible, assist patient in performing recreational activities, observed mental, physical, emotional conditions and report any abnormal changes, answered calls for help and determined if additional help is needed. Moreover, being a nurse is quite a challenging job because you need to have a broad knowledge regarding Nursing functions/care. My other duties and responsibilities are Carrying out Doctor’s order and instruction, Providing assistance to doctors in giving immediate care/treatment to patients classified as an emergency care, Assisting surgeon in performing minor/major OR procedures, Administration of : oral, per , intravenous, intramuscular, and subcutaneous, Maintain confidentiality of patient’s illness and care, Impart relevant health teachings, Establish and maintain a good working relationship with colleagues, superior, and most of all to patients, Maintaining proper Cleanliness and Safety Standards. I also became a Company Nurse in UAE while working as a Staff Nurse in the Medical Center where we provide initial health care or first aid to those employees working in the site. Furthermore, I think my best experienced for being a caregiver/nurse was taking care of my mom who is suffering from Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer’s. I must say caring for your love one who is suffering from this kind of disease is difficult and hurtful from your part but because of wanting to see your mom or love ones to provide the best care and love, you will do anything to make easier for them and make them comfortable. I prepare and buys meal that provide the needed nutrition, supported walking, monitoring symptoms associated with various medical conditions, research(including internet research) on current available therapies and programs, encouraged and assist my mother in doing range of motion exercises, physical therapy, deep breathing exercises and meditation, organize and provide the medication according to the doctor's instructions, enhances communication skills by conserving with my mother as often as possible, giving my mother reassurance and proper orientation every time she would seem at loss or is disoriented, regular check of vitals signs, ensures safe environment and create harmonious atmosphere along with my siblings, accompany my mother in her check-up or hospitalization if needed. With these achievements, along with the extensive experience in the health care field, I am certain in my capability to become an efficient member of your Family. During my diverse experience in the health care field, I developed expertise in patient care that is in line with the care plan. Moreover I am confident in my knowledge about the techniques and procedure of patient care related to daily living, roles and responsibilities of every family member. In addition, I am well able to adapt and work efficiency within a changing environment and most importantly, I always bear in mind the significance and impact of a positive and respectful attitude towards assigned work and patient and the people I work with.
