Elder Care Job in Toronto, Ontario

We are looking for a caregiver for a full-time or live-in position in Toronto. Nanny will be taking care of an active 94 year old woman with minimal walking ability and some confusion. Main responsibilities will include: making sure she does not attempt to get up on her own which would lead to a fall and injury. Changing diapers and/or assisting her to use commode, as well as cleaning and bathing her when necessary. The monitoring and prevention of falls is the main duty and concern and could possibly require over night shifts. Other duties would include: occasional laundry, light cleaning and some meals. Caregiver is required to have at least 2 years experience caring for elderly, CPR and First Aid training would also be preferred. Must also be caring, responsible and patient, especially because of a language barrier. Because she does not speak English, a Macedonian speaking caregiver would be a huge bonus, but not an absolute requirement. Hours and wages to be discussed. There is no bathroom on main floor, where she stays and sleeps, therefore a commode would be the only toilet, which would also require maintenance. The major issue and concern would be that her sometimes confused state could make her attempt to get up/walk on her own, which could be dangerous and lead to falls. Everyone in the family works so we cannot be there to watch her at all times, which is why we need a caregiver. She also does not speak English, so speaking Macedonian would be a huge bonus, but not completely required, as long as caregiver is patient, caring, understanding and able to handle the language barrier.
