I have extensive prior history in the caregiving role. I took care of my grandmother who was a type 1 diabetic with dementia for over a year. I was a NA at a facility and decided to move to home health to work with an elderly man who passed away in February of last year. I worked with him for over two years. I started off doing evening shifts with him, then later on started doing overnights with him in his home because he wanted around the clock 24hr care. I also worked with a kind lady with severe level of MS and another sweet lady who had Alzheimer's. Exercise, meal prep, keeping company, help keeping a positive mindset along with any house hold chores that need to be assisted with is definitely something I'm more than capable of doing. I aspire to be a psychiatric NP, being a caregiver is my job to help get me through school. I've taken several home health classes and know a lot about the health field already as a HHA.
